••••••>How to become a successful roll forming manufacturer?

Metallic Roll form is a manufacturing service provided to the heavy weight metals. Industries related to heavy metal perform roll forming, because these metals need to be shaped in different shapes and sizes, pierced and drilled for particular purposes and are cut in accurate measures for industrial needs.Genrally roll forming is required for heavy gauge companies but it can be required in small scale industries too.

Being a Roll forming manufacturer is not an easy job, sometimes when some identical shapes are required to be manufactured in heavy gauge industry then roll forming is done; by performing this action firmness can be provided to the metal. It strengthens the metal and makes them rigid. Metal need to be reformed from its original state, as it can’t be used directly for the manufacturing process. So for the process of reforming them and giving desired shape; brake pressing, folding and even stamping are done. So, the better way to get success in the roll forming business is to perform these acts with caution, to maintain the reputation in the industry.

The length of the heavy gauge metals is too much and they need to be handled carefully for making then uniform and consistent. Some time the manufacturing process of roll forming desires closer and narrow tolerances to be handled in varied ways. So the industries which perform roll forming should be able to handle these kinds of dense or closer tolerances. Roll forming related industries perform high volume and even fast speed actions, the surface ready should be properly finished and of superior quality. No doubt, it wholly depends on their craftsman ship and their team member’s skillfulness and the management of Roll forming manufacturer.

As modern era is the era of cutthroat competitions, so industries engrossed in the roll forming process needs to be competitive in the terms of prices. There are variety of industries which offer competitive prices and better quality services. One needs to be very particular about providing on time and proper services, so that they may get success in the terms of satisfied customers. Word of mouth is a great way to get success in any business and that is true with the metallic roll farm business too.

Overall, good terms are the back bone of each and every business. If the companies work ethically, provide better services then only they can be successful in any of the business. Metallic Roll form business has a bright future ahead, so if you are competitive enough then success is certain.

•••••> My father, an inspiration for my roll forming ambitions

When ever I used to say my father’s occupation, as Lathe operator, in front of all my friends, whose fathers were big wigs, I never felt any shame or bad feeling for that, because that’s what his job was, for which his dedication ran through his blood, that’s a important reason why today am a one of the upcoming roll forming manufacturer in this city.

It was the admiration of my old man, who was more of a friend to me, who introduced me to roll forming, through his life, his scar struck body, strained hands, and his lovely smile every day , when he reaches home from his work, to hug and kiss, me and my mom.

He started as a material carrier, in one of the biggest roll forming manufacturer, in the industrial area of Braddock, he never had an idea, what machine is, what digital technology is and how it has changed the whole set up of manufacturing, during his work period, and he has learnt evolved, and when he finished his carrier, he was a senior supervisor of the metal design production. Which was a very big growth, compared to the level from were he started.

Roll forming is very basic industry, I sometimes feel it s the mother of all the industries, as it s associated with total process of industrialization. U need a metal to construct any industry , which can produce anything in this world, so roll forming industry is a industry which I admired , apart by the fact that my father worked in it.

So it took me 5 years, to start my own company, from the day I decided that I ll do masters in the metallic engineering, and did my research on modulating this industry, I used my research and took a huge gamble, when I with my set of friends, and with set of elder workers with a huge experience, in the work of all the aspects of roll forming, started our own company at the outskirts.

Today we are the youngest company to achieve many records in this area, and we are now moving in to our new second plant , As life as evolved a lot for me, from studying professionally and from relating it with many aspects of advices, which my father gave.

Today I stand proudly, As an roll forming manufacturer in front of world.

•••••> Hot and Cold Rolls

The important thing about a roll form is that it must be exactly what the specifications require it to be.—nothing more, nothing less. There are an extensive variety of tests that are done upon any roll form. For instance, during the roll forming process, ultrasound testing is employed to check for potential flaws and cracks and the tensile durability and hardness of the final product is also tested to ensure that the roll form performs to its full capacity during its actual usage. There are mainly two process by which roll forms can be made—hot rolling and cold rolling. Hot rolling is the most commonly used in which a red hot piece of metal is shaped into a roll form by means of rolls and can then be sent for cold rolling for further shaping. Cold rolling is designed to make the roll form take specific shapes for particular purposes—it is precision rolling. Cold rolling is usually employed in foundries but it can also be employed in other factories from time to time to help shape rolls into a specific cross section.

There are basically three kinds of roll forms—

  • Foil – This is an extremely thin and wafer like roll. It is highly flexible and ideal for packaging purposes. This is commonly used in the electronics industry as a form of electromagnetic and shock shielding. It may also be employed for foil stamping.

  • Sheet – These are relatively thicker and more durable and used extensively in the aerospace, transport and construction sectors. After sufficient conditioning these sheets can be used for airplane manufacturing and construction as well.

  • Plate – This is relatively thinner than a sheet but still quite durable. It is also used in similar sectors but mostly used in making cars.

Specialized machinery converts these forms into more particular roll forms to get the desired cross section. Due to the presence of ‘blow holes’ cold forming is necessary rather than shaping or hot rolling the metal directly to the desired shape. Blow holes are basically packets of air trapped inside steel that makes the metal brittle and liable to crack under stress. Blow holes can be removed during hot rolling but cold rolling ensures complete removal. Once the metal is cool it is free from all inconsistencies. These rolls can be then sent for further rolling. Then the roll form can be bent or re-cut to perfection.

••••••> Know More about Metal & Roll Forming Machine

Ever since the metal age, when man first discovered that metals could be extracted from rocks, melted and cast into various shapes, the art of the extraction and the recasting process has been radically perfected. The need for new and innovative ways, for metal works, is inspired by the world’s need for different metal products. Look around—from the simple screwdriver to the tallest skyscraper—all are products of metal forming.

One of the methods of metal forming is roll forming. The skill to form rolls out of metals is a continuous process. A roll forming machine which creates a roll form is basically an aggregate of several sets of rolls. Each set is called a ‘stand’. The sets are consecutively placed. Each set contributes a small change in the desired cross section of the metal. The roll form will be moved through the ‘stands’ of the roll forming machine, and be shaped by the sets of rolls, until the intended cross sectional pattern is achieved. Sheet metal is commonly used to make roll forms and this process is best suited for making forms with long lengths.

Newer roll forming machines offer much versatility. A single roll forming machine will shape a sheet metal into only one cross sectional pattern. One feeds the pattern into the machine and the machine then churns out the desired profile by shaping the metal. You have to remember however that the cross sectional profile should be a uniform design with no variations. Each unique design also requires a specific roll tool. One single roll forming machine has a specifically oriented set of ‘stands’ and it can produce only a single profile. It may be unwise, thus, to have only one roll forming machine at your disposal. Roll forming machinery are generally used for industries, typically heavy industries. Industries that make automobiles or those that make locomotive parts need such machines to shape patterns in the metal without being changed. But if you are to produce a new design then it is not possible to re-orient the rolls for the purpose—a new machine will have to be brought in.

Roll forming as an art has revolutionized the industry of metal works. As the technology advances, so does its complexity. Newer machinery includes the roll forming presses which produces a roll form via extreme pressure. It will not be surprising if we see more innovations in the future.

••••••>Roll Forming needs met with expertise

Roll forming is a process of continuous bending operation of a long strip of metal. The metal strip is passed through sets of rolls; each roll performs an incremental part of the bend. This process is continued till the required cross section profile is obtained. Roll form is the most common and ideal method for producing metal parts in long lengths or in huge quantities.

The process of roll forming is a simple manufacturing process in which a device called dispenser holds a large metal strip. A machine with a stock feeder, which is attached to a cutoff attachment, is fed with this unrolled metal strip. After this process, the metal strip is passed through the forming rolls. Desired shapes are achieved from these metal strips, because of the mating die–set rolls in this machinery, which achieve different shapes in various stages, by means of various shaped rolls. These roll configurations can be flower shaped, progressive upper/ lower rolls, cluster roll configuration or side rolls. They are used according to the shape that needs to be achieved. Thus roll formed parts can have variety of curves, angles and shapes. All kinds of ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be formed through the process of roll forming.

Nowadays companies provide cost effective methods for roll forming requirements of customers. A wide variety of roll formed parts are offered, and the task is performed with complete expertise in the field. State of the art machinery is used to produce results which meet customer demands. Innovative techniques are used to reduce cost and increase quality. These companies have expert staffs that are up to date with their knowledge in roll forming. Advanced roll forming machineries are used which produce highest quality, economically priced parts. There are numerous processes that can be performed while roll forming is being done. Multi secondary work can be eliminated in roll forming.

Roll forming is considered beneficial than metal forming processes because there are fewer component parts required in roll forming, there is less material wastage, there is closer tolerance in roll forming, there are variety of materials used and manufacturing cost is lower, and they offer greater strength than metal forming. Different types of metals can be roll formed, thus allowing end user to have variety of options to design products according to customer requirement.

This method of roll forming produces parts which cater to the following industries – transportation, sporting goods, store fixtures, mining, material handling, furniture industry, food services industry, farming, construction, automotive and appliance industry.
